How to Increase Followers on Instagram SLOWLY and Intentionally

Building a strong and engaged following on Instagram is important for businesses looking to thrive online today. Imagine if you had 1-3 solid leads per day from Instagram… and even if you just got ONE new follower a day? By the end of the year…you’d have 365 qualified leads. That’s way better than thousands of ‘sorta followers’ right?

Here are the steps to grow your Instagram with intention: 

Find and Follow: First, search for other Canadian companies that specialize in kids clothing on platforms like Instagram. Use hashtags like #canadiankidsclothingcompanies to find other Canadian companies in the kids' clothing industry and follow them!

Engage Authentically: Like and comment genuinely on posts for accounts that are part of the same industry. Show appreciation for their content - If you see something you like, don’t be afraid to tell them! Authentic engagement fosters relationships and can lead to other businesses showing your business support too. When you leave COMMENTS - their audience is more likely to engage with you too - which is great. 

Collaboration is NOT Competition: Send a direct message to like minded companies to introduce yourself and to establish potential for collaboration in the future. You can emphasize the mutual benefits of supporting each other's brands and highlight how collaboration can enhance both parties' visibility and follower growth. In other words, the more people that know about both of you the better!

Be Intentional and enjoy the Process: Building a following takes time and effort. Learn to find joy in interacting with other brands and individuals in your industry. Genuine enthusiasm is contagious and you will see an increase in followers in a short time with your effort.

Like Attracts Like: As you engage with other clothing companies and others in the same industry, your visibility will increase! When people see you actively interacting (liking and commenting) and showing a genuine interest in fellow businesses, they're more likely to check out your business and become followers themselves - and in turn choose to become customers too!

You can intentionally build a following for your business that was made to be sustainable! Doing your best to create genuine connections and showing up authentically will lead to an increase in your following and action creates confidence in your business. The action we outlined above – can be used for any industry - authors, lawyers, ecommerce - you name it!

Remember at the end of the year if you could grow by 365 new followers, that are potential leads / buyers - you'd probably be pretty happy right? Sometimes slow and steady really DOES win the race!
