Luxury Birthday Getaway at The Beachfront by the Fives Hotels 

 After visiting more than 15 all-inclusive resorts across Playa del Carmen, Akumal, and Cancun over the years, I can confidently say our experience at The Fives Beachfront - Adults Only was easily a 5+++++ star getaway. It was everything I didn’t even know I needed — luxury, intimacy, service, and no towel cards in sight.

The Adults-Only Experience: Boutique Vibes, Celebrity-Level Service

From the moment we arrived, everything felt elevated. No plastic loungers, no chaotic towel card policies, and no long lines. Instead, you’re greeted by an elegant boutique-style resort with a quiet, serene atmosphere. The beds by the pool? Insanely comfortable. You’ll feel like a uxury celebrity in this space designed for actual relaxation.

But what truly set the tone? The butler service. I’m not even joking — before I could think, "I’d love a water," one was handed to me. And not just any water — my favourite sparkling water, in a chilled glass, no less. For some reason, that’s become a huge detail I appreciate more and more while we travel. It’s the little luxuries like this that make a place unforgettable.

Food for the Soul (even as a Vegetarian!)

As a vegetarian, I often brace myself for “resort food”  being a bit bland or repetitive. Sometimes it seems they just -- want to feed you bread or pasta haha. But The Fives Beachfront surprised me in the best way. Every morning, I had avocado toast with a latte, or eggs Benedict with tomatoes and fresh juice. The ingredients were fresh, vibrant, and energy-boosting — exactly what you want on vacation.

The only thing I’d note? There wasn’t a table in the room. I’m a sit-with-my-coffee-at-a-table kind of person, so I missed that little ritual. But the beauty of the room & view more than made up for it.

A Bonus: Exploring The Fives Residences Thanks to Our Friends

Now here’s where the trip got even more interesting. Our friends are members at The Fives Residences, so we had the opportunity to explore the family side of the resort as well. Think: larger spaces, swim-up rooms, and TONS of dining options.

The food over there? Incredible — and here’s what I loved most: we didn’t eat at a buffet even once. Every single meal was from a menu, freshly made, and beautifully presented. That’s my kind of dining.

We had reservations at several of the restaurants, and my top picks were:

Thai– bold flavors and cozy ambiance. 
Olives – I had the best pizza, and our friend went full-on tomahawk steak mode… twice!

And yes, the service was consistently fantastic, and the wine? Totally enjoyable.

A Note About the Beach

If you're someone who loves swimming in the ocean, I will say this: the beach isn’t swimmable here. It's quite rocky and not great for wave-jumping — trust me, our friend learned the hard way (hello, cut foot). So, if ocean swimming is a must-have, you might want to explore other options — or just plan to stick to the gorgeous pools.
